The Car

From the opening quote, this insane idea for a movie had me rooting for it.
"Oh great brothers of the night, who rideth out upon the hot winds of hell, who dwelleth in the devil's lair; move and appear!" -- Anton La Vey
Who is Anton La Vey, you may be asking? He's the founder of the church of Satan, baby! Don't let the fact that maybe the screenwriter didn't exactly understand La Vey get in the way of the very serious and very kick-ass opener, however. Also, please, if you would, politely disregard the notion that a cyclist can stop, turn, and even possibly outmaneuver a car on a wide road. Do that and the rest of the movie takes care of itself.
Okay, yes, there are moments when this film asks for a suspension of disbelief that may be too much but there are also some amazing qualities here. It is shot better than it has any right to be. It gave me the impression it may have influenced Nope quite a bit in that regard. I actually loved the car design. The filmmakers at least made its physics menacing in a believable enough way. And though it maybe takes too long to get there, the ending is pretty awesome.
So this is a leap of a movie but I like how the story was told and the car stalking and attacking a woman because she hurt its feelings was a high point and one I needed to pause the movie for because I was laughing so hard.
